Most people get tattooed and bitterly regret the decision later on. What seemed like a good idea at the time can cause a major problem in later life. For some people having a tattoo can mean psychological distress.

For others it can mean difficulty in securing employment or going for a promotion.

Those who at some stage regret getting a tattoo have three choices; hide it, cover it with a better tattoo, or have it removed professionally.

Laser is the treatment of choice for tattoo removal as it has the ability to remove the tattoo pigment completely without leaving any scarring. Our clinic offers treatment with the Q-Switch, Nd:YAG C6 Medlite laser system which can remove tattoos containing black, dark and light blue, green and red pigments.

This specific laser is designed to produce one or more specific wavelengths of light. These wavelengths are either absorbed, reflected, or simply pass through objects. Tattoo ink is removed by using a specific wavelength which passes through the skin but is absorbed by the ink.

The rapid absorption of light energy causes destruction of the tattoo ink, and it is removed by the body’s natural filtering systems.

Both Pico lasers and Q-Switched Nd:YAG lasers are used for tattoo removal but they work in slightly different ways and that difference changes how they treat the skin.

The Q-Switch emits light in very short flashes of light called pulses (nanoseconds). The impact of the energy from the powerful pulse of light is similar to the snap of a thin rubber band or specks of hot bacon grease on the skin.

The Pico Laser delivers higher energy similar to the Q-Switch, however at a rapid rate of pulses known as picoseconds. This enables fast delivery of light with less thermal affect beneath the sin surface, however this process shatters the ink particle into finer, dust like particles.

Both are successful in removing Tattoos (one is a reliable mustang and the other is like a new Tesla)

You may return to work immediately. There is no down time for this procedure. On average, professional tattoos require 8-12 treatments or even more, while amateur tattoos require 4-6 treatments with an interval of  8-10 weeks in between sessions. The number of treatments depends on the age of tattoo, the amount and type of ink used as well as the depth of the ink in the skin.
